64 meat products recalled over listeria threat

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WHNT) — Over 60 ready-to-eat meat products sold by one company in Illinois are being recalled due to possible listeria contamination. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Saturday that 64 products sold by Behrmann Meat and Processing, Inc. are affected by the recall.

More than 60 ready-to-eat meat products sold by an Illinois company have been recalled due to a possible listeria contamination. The recall was announced by the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service on Saturday. It ordered the recall of 64 products sold by Behrmann Meat and Processing, Inc, based in Illinois. The FSIS said that more products could be recalled in coming days, and advised consumers to check back regularly if they have purchased meat products from the company. FDA Releases Food Safety Prevention Strategies for Salmonellosis, Listeriosis from Mushrooms, Onions

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced two new food safety prevention strategies intended to help prevent outbreaks of foodborne salmonellosis and listeriosis associated with imported enoki and wood ear mushrooms, and salmonellosis associated with bulb onions. The strategies are part of FDA’s of FDA’s Foodborne Outbreak Response Improvement Plan under its New Era of Smarter Food Safety.
