Paul Heyman Calls John Cena a Real-Life Superhero, Explains Why WWE Is Looking for the Next Cena

Paul Heyman recently spoke with Graham Matthews of Bleacher Report and explained why WWE is looking for its next John Cena within its developmental system. But he didn't say it was in order to find another multi-time WrestleMania main eventer with more than a dozen world championship reigns, but rather as an ideal ambassador for the WWE. He went so far as to call Cena, who recently set the world record for most wishes granted via the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a real-life superhero.

Among the more intriguing stories in wrestling recently has been AEW reportedly combating attempts by WWE, under new management with Stephanie McMahon, Nick Khan, and Paul "Triple H" Levesque now in charge, to reach out to contracted AEW talent in attempts to lure them away. Whether or not the situation has crossed the line into tampering or not remains a mystery, but in regards to who was contacted, that picture has become clearer.

Trish Stratus is teasing a new project involving WWE. Stratus has cemented her place in WWE history. She is a former seven-time WWE Women's Champion and was a key figure during the company's Attitude Era. While she retired back in 2006, she has returned on a number of occasions. She was in the 2018 Women's Royal Rumble Match, had a tag team match at the all-women's Evolution event, and competed against Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam back in 2019.

The Bloodline brings more viewers to the table, apparently. Showbuzz Daily release viewership information for last Friday night and the September 23 episode of "WWE SmackDown" roped in an average of 2,535,000 viewers, the second-highest for the show since March 20, 2020, right at the beginning of the COVID-19 lockdown and up 13 percent from the week previous. The only episode to chart higher was the one that aired on Christmas Day last December.

New Graphic Teases Which Titles Will Be On The Line At AEW Battle For The Belts

The next AEW Battle of the Belts special is set to air on Saturday, October 8, and we may have our first hint at the titles that will be defended on the show. An advertisement for the week's live taping, including Battle of the Belts alongside a live "Rampage" on Friday, October 7, showcases the AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, Ring of Honor World Champion Chris Jericho, AEW World Tag Team Champions The Acclaimed, TNT Champion Wardlow, TBS Champion Jade Cargill, and FTW Champion Hook, along with a number of the company's other stars.
